Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Martina Dören
The Clinical Research Center (CRC) has been established in 2000 in order to promote clinical research in the area of Women's Health with particular emphasis on the postreproductive period of life.
Current research priorities are the impact of sex hormones and related hormonal and non-hormonal agents on bone, joint and muscle; the endometrium and the breast, and on various aspects of health-related quality of life. Population-based recruitment of women living in the state of Berlin are the basis to conduct prospective, randomised, long- and short term single- and multicenter trials involving women mainly after the menopause / oophorectomy. The CRC collaborates with the osteoporosis research group at the Freie Universität and with research institutes such as the Deutschs Institut für Ernährungsforschung (DifE; German Institute for Research into Nutrition, Potsdam-Rehbrücke).
The skills of research fellows, nurses, and technicians include special knowledge regarding diagnostic procedures such as bone mineral density and quality assessment, imaging and biopsy techniques of estrogen dependent tissues such as endometrium and breast, and application of quality of life instruments.
